Linda Ellis

I was born near Bridlington , was schooled here and spent my early working life in a solicitors office.

I moved to West Yorkshire, then Surrey and Bedfordshire working as an accountant and an IT consultant in telecoms and financial services; sometimes working abroad in Europe. I moved back to Bridlington in 2000 for family reasons.
My current interests are calligraphy, local and family history, sport, sailing and walking. I have recently completed the Wolds Way and the Cleveland Way.
My first book, Bempton Cliff Climbing - a reference guide, was an offshoot of my family history research, having collected many books and photographs on the subject.

The man known as Lawrence of Arabia, later Aircraftman T.E. Shaw, came to Bridlington in the 1930s to test armoured target boats as part of his RAF career until his retirement in 1935. This was the introduction of high speed tenders which led eventually to the Air Sea Rescue we know today. The book gives an insight to his time here through local newspaper articles and his letter writing as well as showing some of the places he stayed and worked in.
